Campervan Insurance

It is always a good idea to make sure that you are fully covered when taking your campervan abroad and if your policy does not cover this option then have it added to your existing policy even if this add on is only a temporary measure. Your insurance cover in this country doesn't necessarily cover you when travelling abroad; therefore it is always wise to find out what you are covered for as a precaution.

Most campervan insurance companies will provide a Europe wide insurance cover, so, if you are travelling within the EU your insurance package will provide you with protection. However, if you are travelling outside of the EU then your insurance company will provide you with the type of cover you need that offers you the right level of protection.

You will still be able to choose from the following types of cover whilst travelling abroad:

Third party - To cover should you injure another person or damage another vehicle whilst you are abroad

Third party, fire and theft - To cover you against fire, fire damage, theft or attempted theft whilst you are abroad

Fully comprehensive - Will cover you if you have an accident and it was your fault as well as the above options.

When travelling abroad in your campervan you will need to have a Green card will is recognised in over 40 countries and which will show to them that you are covered to at least a third party level. You must also ensure that you take with you:

•  Your passport

•  Your driving licence (With the photographic part)

•  Your insurance certificate that shows that your insurance covers you whilst abroad

•  Your MOT certificate

•  Your V5 Document
