At campervan insurance we aim to give all of our campervan, motorhome and RV owning customers the same level of service and will undertake a market wide analysis to provide the best insurance quote. This goes for all our customer whether they have campervan, caravan, motorhome or RV, it also applies to those who have a self-built campervan. Unlike some other insurance comparison websites, we don't turn away customers who want campervan insurance for self-built campervans. Any DIY, self-built or converted campervan will need to be legally protected and covered against all possibilities as an original campervan would. Whilst you are converting your campervan you will need to insure it but as a panel van rather then a campervan, until you have completed your conversion, then you can change your insurance to that of a campervan. You should note that you are legally required to send the V5 documents into the DVLA and to register your newly converted campervan in order to insure it. In order to comply with the Department of Transport your campervan must fit the guidelines of a motor caravan and therefore by law you must ensure that your campervan meets the following criteria: • Has a door providing access to the living area • A bed that has a minimum length of 6 feet • A water storage tank or container • The seating area is fixed into position permanently • The storage areas are fixed into position permanently • A window on at least one side of the living area of the campervan If you fail to meet these criteria then your campervan will not comply with legal regulations and you will be unable to insure your campervan. Most campervan insurance providers will require proof that your campervan has been converted properly and meets the regulations set down, this will need to be photographic evidence as well as a engineers report |
We will try our upmost to find you a quote at the very best price with reputable FSA Regulated Companies
